    Hey,
I've recently been trying to get my parameters all in line. I got this bottle of Kent tech cb partA to raise my calcium. My system volume is ~100g. My current calcium is 320 ppm
Using the calculator 18.4 oz (544.2ml)will be required to get the Calcium to 400.
On the bottle it says not to dose more than 1ml per 4 gallons in 12 hrs, so that would be no more than 25ml for 100 gallons.
I know these products normally give recommendations for maintaining parameters not correcting them. How should I dose this?
I was thinking to drip about 272ml in about a day, then the rest the next day. This is way above the recommended amount though. Anyone have experience using this product to raise levels?

Just thought of something else, i stopped dripping kalk to dose these other to get my parameters back on track. Should i restart kalk, to keep my alk from dropping and dose small amounts of calcium to raise the calcium?

You can raise Ca by about 50ppm per day. You could do it at the rate you described as that would only be a 40ppm per day increase.

I like to go a little slower and keep it to 20ppm per day. That would take around 4 days at that rate to get it to 400ppm Ca.

Here's an article by Randy Holmes-Farley on using Lime (Kalk):
What Your Grandmother Never Told You About Lime by Randy Holmes-Farley - Reefkeeping.com

Here's a quote from it (near the end of the article):
"If an aquarium’s calcium and alkalinity demands are near the high end, then replacing all of the evaporated water with saturated limewater may not be adequate. In the case of my reef aquarium system, however, it is more than adequate. I do not even use saturated limewater (typically, I aim for a conductivity of about 7 mS/cm), and I still meet my aquarium’s demand. However, many aquaria have higher, maybe even much higher, demands for calcium and alkalinity than mine does. One way to enlarge the limewater’s impact is to add fans to the aquarium to increase evaporation. A second involves adding vinegar as described above. Many aquarists have successfully employed both of these methods. Additionally, aquarists often use a small amount of one of the other balanced additive systems (especially the two-part additive systems) to give a little boost to aquaria that need a small amount of extra calcium and alkalinity beyond what limewater can supply, without incurring significant capital costs. Likewise, these two-part additive systems can be successfully combined with limewater during periods of low evaporation when limewater may be temporarily limited and not meet demand (as during rainy cool weather)."

I would say YES, however, I wouldn't add all 272ml at once. Rather, I would spread it out over the course of the day. Maybe add 1/4 of it at a time, every 3-4 hours.

    Thanks a lot man. k+
I diluted the 272 ml with RO to make up 1 gallon and I'm dripping it throughout the day. After this dose I will test, probably restart kalk and dose calcium at half the rate to bring it to where I want it. I definitely agree with going slow with these things. Better safe than sorry.
