    hi guys i have a wine demjohn that i cleaned out with water and vingear that i am going to use to collect my rodi water and mix my water and salt. What is the best salinty of salt for a reef tank my tank is a 65g and what temperture should i set my heater

    Hey,
    A good place to start would be to aim for a specific gravity of 1.0225 (34 pt) and a temperature between 75-80. I think all Salt mixes (eg. IO, Reef Crystals, Red Sea, Seachem, ect...) will tell you how many cups to put into each gallon of water to reach the desired SG. For instance IO instructs to put in 1/2 a cup for each US gallon. Remember: when doing a water change, always dissolve the salt mix in the new water (to be added) before adding it to the tank and heat the new water to the same temperature of the tank water.
