UV filter question

Just read on a site that a UV filter will raise water temp by a couple of degrees when its on. Is this true? Once again this is research for my sea horse tank. Gotta get my temp as close to perfect as possible.

 

I've used one a long time ago and never noticed a temp problem. if you use one, just keep a close eye on the temp. using one IMO and controlling the temp is easier than getting rid of parasites and other nasties...

 

Been running one for about 24 hours now and I agree no temp change at all.

 

I've been running mine for the past 4 weeks... no temp change.

The only thing that drives up my water temperature is having all my powerheads on (4 of them in a 40 gallon) or having my light on the lowest height setting.

 

I should have very minimal to up my temp then. One tiny power head a HOB filter, UV filter and LED lighting. When I get my heater that can be set to a lower temp we will see...

 

I doubt you'll have any problems at all. Majority of tank "heat ups" are strong lighting and LEDs tend to give off so little heat as it is.
