Who is running a UV light and are they really needed ???
With ick and other waterborn problems do I need to get the most watts 4 my buck ???
The higher the watts the price shoots thru the roof !!!
I was thinking 40 watts, I have a 180 g tank !! Never had problem with ick but now that I am talking about ick , the fish will :-/:-/probably get it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any help on this matter will be very helpful to me !!!
    Thanks in advance !!!

You will get a bunch of different answers on this topic. I personally run UV on both my big tanks. My UV in my reef tank went down. I started to get cyano that eventaully turned into dinos.* Now I dont think that my UV going down was the only cause for it but I do think it played a role in it! I replaced the UV and started treating the dino and I have not had a sign of it in 2 weeks. Again, I am not saying that the UV was the only cause..but I think UV's are important. My 2 cents worth

I don't think they are needed, they can be very helpful, but also can cause problems, particularly if you have them after the fuge, they will kill isopods and copods. Many people don't run them, many do, read up on them and see if one would be right for your tank. Also, if you are so worried about ich, just use a quarantine tank, then you won't have to worry.
