UV light facts???

    hello guys!
    i would like to know the upside and downside of using UV light in a FOWLR or reef tanks?
    any experience guys?

    Waste of money bulbs are expensive and at about 4 months they are shot I know many say 9 months to a yr but having used many different U/V's and seeing what they do per a ORP meter I can always see when they start to decline and on average 4 months they start to fade fast.. Get your self a Ozone generator and controller for the skimmer and it will last yrs and yrs and do a beter job.. More water will go through the skimmer then it ever will through a U/V and I have yet to see any real solid estimates on flow rates of the U/V's and unless you can get the problem past the U/V and have it set there exposed lonmg enough the U/V bulb does noting much ..

    thanks mate... how bout the effect on the parasites, algae and good filter bacteria? and also is there any effect on the fishes and corals?
