So my friend decided to take down his tank that's been running for 5 years I knew his tank well and none of his fish were in healthy so I took his blue hippo tang and two days after I put him in my fowlr tank he got ick! I don't have a hospital tank so I've been feeding soaked food in garlic focus and metro. Now my other fish are getting it. I've heard to use a uv sterilizer. It's on a 90 gallon bow front with a 20 gallon sump would a 9 watt Beckett work for my tank

I have a UV sterilizer on my 92 gallon bow front. For that water volume you need a minimum of 25 watt sterilizer.

if its a FOWLR i would maybe recommend doing hypo...a UV sterilizer is only good for free swimming ick that actually passes through it(yes it can avoid the intake of the uv sterilizer) and will not kill the ich in your sediment or on the fish themselves

it does to an extent but not entirely...it may be easier to set up a hospital tank for your snails/stars in say a rubbermaid tub or even a 5g bucket with just a heater and a powerhead and treat the tank with hypo

Will hypo kill all the live rock and sand? Will it send my tank into a cycle?

im not 100% on that part but i dont know if it would be an issue let someone else chime in on that part but either way even if you get a rubbermaid tub(i have a few that hole ~25g) you could always move a good amount of rock with the snails and stars into a rubbermiad as your cheapest option but its all up to you

Just leave the fish in there. It was an ick carrier before it got in your tank. The stress from the move is what caused the out brake. If you move it again it will only cause more stress. If it is eating good let it ride. After a few more days you will see it not showing any outward signs of ick.A uv is still a good idea though.
