hi guys just a after some info

whats the difference between a uv clarifier and a uv sterilizer.
the reason i ask this is because my friend ,which also happens to be the lfs owner has a new pondmaster mk 2 36w uv clarifier (got sent by mistake) which he will give me 4 150. i don't want to just rush out and get it just incase it is the wrong . he also has a 9w version aswell. the 9w does 3000lph and the 36w does 24000lph so wat do u guys reckon

i'm lost with this kind of stuff, feel like i need a phd or something.

    cheers dave

    Unless it's a fish only tank I don't think you need one.IMHO

    Dave,

Welcome to 3Reef. They both do the same thing but UV sterilizers kill more algae and parasites than clarifiers do.

I think they are the exact same actually. Just depends on how much water you push through them at one time. Also, from what I understand the UV does not actually kill algae or parasites, but mutates their dna and rna to where they are unable to reproduce.
