Hi everybody, I'm fairly new to the hobby and deciding to move to something a little bigger. I have 90 gal running with with about 3' LS and about 100 pounds of LR sump and remora skimmer. The tank has been up and running now for about a week and a half. I just couldn't wait any longer so last night i put in a damsel ::). He looks really happy so far. I just recently purchased a Jebo UV sterilizer, don't know if i should run it while cycling a new tank because i heard can kill all the good stuff w the bad stuff and ect. Please help! thanks in advance

I would wait personally. You want to get all the bacteria growing in there to fully cycle.

I would wait till the cycle is over.

I am going to assume you mean 3" of LS and not 3 feet of LS. ;D

There's no need of using up the bulb life or using the electricity to run one during the cycle. It won't hurt anything, though. There are only very small numbers of beneficial bacteria in the water column, so the UV won't affect them in any way.

haha alright guys, thanks for the quick replies! I was thinking that i didnt need to have it running so the light is off. Yeah I understand that you shouldnt start adding fish til a month but 1 small damsel in a 90 gal i dont think will destroy the tank, I am waiting to add the other fish though thats a for sure. Thanks again for the quick responses guys!

Why does he say not to. You have to remember this is just an opinion of another hobbyist, and not a research article.

I would say wait until for ever. I don't see them as particularly useful.
