thanks for all the advice guys.. @con999 - no i didnt put copper in my mt BC 14, i put my clowns in a QT tank and am treating them there, i im going to leave my BC empty of any fish for about 4-6 weeks to let the parasites die off. i was just curious if i should add a UV ster in the meantime to help (now and the near future) kill off everything. i was just alittle confused since i have read some many ya's & na's about it...after reading this i went ahead a bought one.. ill be waiting for it in the mail..Thanks guys...

I bought the Oceanic UV Sterilizer yesterday because I wanted something inline for my BC29 HQI. I was very unimpressed with the wattage (and the price of a replacement bulb), however, it was the most practical solution for me.

I noticed a single white spec on my False Perc days after seeing some smaller white spots on my Royal Gamma...apparently I have parasites. Fish are acting fine and eating like pigs. The gamma was brushing up against LR, ocassionaly, for ~24 hours. My Percula hasn't brushed up against any LR. I am going to let the fishes' immune systems fight off the parasites. I don't want to ever use an Ich medication or a QT.

With a strong desire to not setup a QT, I'll be receiving my UV Sterilizer in the mail tomorrow and will install ASAP to hopefully kill off any free-floating parasites. I'm keeping a close eye on all of my fish and I'm feeding them a variety of frozen Rod's Complete Reef, frozen Premium Krill, Ocean Nutrition Prime Reef Flakes, and Ocean Nutrition Formula 1 Pellets....all of which they are eating (even my Mandarin Dragonet!)

I say go for it...its insurance for your tank.

Side note: Along with the UV, I ordered Kent's Marine-C to dose to my tank whenever I see a parasite or a fish acting ill. Nothing wrong with a little Vitamin C to boost my fishes' immune systems.

Just keep them eating and they'll beat it on there own. No need to add extra stress by dipping or removing them at this point. I have never done anything but keep them eating with garlic and vitamins. Had many ich outbreaks over the years and tanks, and never lost a fish to ich.
