I added one, just because I love Tangs, and they get Ich easily. Can I say that it has made a HUGE difference? No. But I also cannot say that it hasn't. I feel better with it running though. JMO

I agree on that, but I am looking for some info on which UV will suit my desires. I want either a submersible/in sump or HOB that i can hang on the sump. Don't want to do inline...

Hmmmm. not familiar with those options. I use an inline Coralife Turbo Twist, that I just loop from the sump, and back in.

Not sure there is a submersible one bit you should be able to hang just about any unit off the back without too much trouble. As far as I know there aren't any all in one options.

So do you think I'd be okay to just have a powerhead feed the UV from the sump and then have the water flow back into the sump?

I just don't want to run in inline because it will adversely affect the flow rate of my return pump

I am not sold on them, however you can get submersible units that y0ou can place in your sump. Just Google search "submersible UV sterilizer".

green killing machine is a submersible, I think I still have one laying around, not sure if I sold both or not, I'll look. I bought one, then researched my brains out, and decided against it.

The only reason I don't have one in my salt is my pod population. I don't want any of them passing through it. Whether that hurts them or not I haven't looked to far into it. If I were to run one I'd have a separate low flow pump right at my drain in the sump feeding it.
Sorry to spam, I'm actually kind of curious about them in a reef. I don't have any good suggestions for one though
