Im going to give the UV sterilizer a try with the ich problem. Does anyone know what a "cheapie" UV goes for? Im also not seeing anything less than 9 watts, i only have a 28 gallon and I don't want to do any overkill. I kind of need to know ASAP, i think the dip worked temporarily on my female, but i've lost two fish already and i really want to save this one!

I was wondering about this too. Most people seem to recommend the turbo twist UV filter, but thats not exactly a cheapie. I can't seem to find a cheap uv filter for aquariums. "/ which is weird because you can get a 600 gal pond UV sterilizer from homedepot for $60. You think one for 100 gals would be cheaper. I wonder if it would be affective?

I run an 18 watt Turbo Twist on my 90 gallon. It works very well. The 9 watt would be appropriate for your tank. You can get the turbo twist for a bargain on marinedepot.com, but its still a pretty good chunk of change.

Check out this nifty thing I found on marine depot. Seems to be the cheapest one I have found and it comes with its own pump.

There are mixed opinions about it. Just like everything else in this hobby :bouncylau

Some people say they use it and love it, others say it kills helpful things. I would pick one up for 30 bucks in a heart beat. Even if you never use it, you could keep it on hand in case a disease breaks out.

People say it will kill helpful bacteria which I have no doubt it does, but I think bacteria with plenty to eat multiplies very quickly, so I am not concerned about that.

Go to your local fish store and see if they have any used ones. I just got a used one from WWC for $25. This is pretty sweet, its a current-usa gamma 8w. Might be kinda small for my tank, but I can wait an extra day or two for my water to get cleared up.
