    HI,

I'm thinking about using a UV Sterilizer to get rid of these tiny cloudy particles. It has worked wonders for me in my Freshwater, just wanted to know.... Is it safe for saltwater?

    Many Thanks!

I have UV in all my saltwater tanks. I really notice a difference with algea and clarity of the water when it is time for me to switch out my bulbs.

I have read others say that UV is bad for saltwater because it destroys a lot of the "needed" stuff in the water (certain bacteria, etc) however IMO it is best to run a UV and have not had any ill effects from it

For a fish only system I swear by them but for a reef I say no. They do kill or actually inactivate necessary organisms that are a lower part of the food chain in a reef.
I always use one on heavily stocked fish only systems though and can really see a difference when the bulb gets dirty or weak.
