    Would it help keep algae off the glass because lately everyday or 2 when i come home there is a lot of green algae on the glass. It just wipes right off, but it didn't used to happen. All of my perameters are good. Would a UV sterilizer help get rid of it after I wipe it off and it clouds the water because then it is "suspended"? Thanks!

    Thats somthing that you/we can not control. Everyone cleans their glass either daily or every other day. Your not doing anything wrong, thats super normal and thats for the life of the tank.

    Dont waste your money on a UV filter.

    I haven't cleaned my glass in over two months. Sadly as of this week a spot of algae started growing there that my snails don't seem to like.

    I agree though. It's normal and a sterilizer won't solve it.

    are you over-feeding or over-dosing liquid food? I know if I dose phytoplankton everyday I get a little dirty glass. do you have a powerhead hitting that glass area where algae is forming? maybe cut back your daylights 30minutes less a day for 1 week and see.. just my 2cents

    idk why it's happening the actinics are on for 10 hours and the daylights are on for only 8. and i have good flow everywhere and i only do phytoplankton once a week, and I don't think i'm overfeeding. Thanks though night-rida

    try cutting your daylights to 7-7.5 hours a day for a week. if that doesnt help after 2 weeks then just put it back to 8 hours..also if your daylight bulbs are old that may do it too.
    PCs = 6-10months (uvl pc's = claim 4500hrs usage)
    T5s = 12-18months (for good name brand bulbs)

    I had to find my sweet spot. for me its 9 hrs actinics and 6.5 hrs day lights.
    corals still have good growth and less algae buildup. i used to run 12 actinics and 8 daylights and would get cyano blooms etc..

    btw make sure your skimmer is working 100%. my air tubes were partially clogged awhile back. so I just replaced the air tubes and my skimmer now works better than it has in months.. I get about 1" dirty water in trap/cup every week now. foams up like some good root beer :)
