UV....What's the deal with it?

OK. When I bought the tank second hand, it came with UV. I just got done installing it (finally). So I almost offed myself installing a bad PH.....Not to be deterred, I reached for the only thing I had in my bag 'o fish stuff and pulled out my extra Rio 2100. Total overkill. I dialed it down using a valve fitting and got it going to about 100-150 GPH give or take.

Now the question is......What do I use this for?

I think it is good for parasites. That is all I know. I do not want to run it full time. I don't see the logic in it. I can see running it a couple of days a week while I am in the house, or if there is a problem present. I need a few ideas on this one.

uv is used when you have an ich outbreak. you don't want to leave it on all the time, it will kill good stuff too, but great for getting rid of ich!
