Vacation in the Florida Keys

It has been a couple of weeks now, but I thought I would share my recent vacation to the Florida Keys. Me and my wife celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary. We stayed at the Hawks Cay resort in Duck Key and went snorkeling and snuba diving which I absolutely LOVED!!! I am so hooked and plan on returning within two years. My uncle is a scuba instructor and has all the equiptment so I am going to see if he can certify me and my wife for cheap if not for free.

I am very disappointed that this is the best picture I got. I had some cheap underwater camera bag and didn't get a underwater housing. That won't be the case next time as I am about to purchase a Nikon D700 and a Canon G10 as my point and shoot and will have an underwater housing.

Happy (belated) anniversary! The place looks nice. My wife and I love Longboat key. We were in the bottom keys (I think those are the ones where you were) but I don't remember seeing Duck Key, where is that one?

 

We were pretty close to Marathon, but here is a picture of the keys.

Thanks, we blew right through. We stayed a Largo, Marathon and ended up in Key West. Next time down we will check out the Duck!

awesome. my family stays down in marathon every year. i think its part of what got me into fish as well. i went diving at sombrero reef and have lots of pictures. ill try to see if i can scan any and post them.

 

Man, we had a blast. We went snorkeling at the Bahia Honda State Park and I was surprised how many urchins were on the ground. Lucky they were mostly under rocks or I would have had a bad day stepping on one. Saw a pretty cool stingray and almost kissed a jellyfish in the process. I look up and there he was right in my face mask. My wife got a kick out of watching me jump back hollering...lol

Sorry, it was expensive enough just the two of us (no kids...thank god) otherwise I would have invited you guys...lol
