I'm going to Italy in a week and I'm training my dad this week on my protein skimmer and it made me think about my lights. I have them on a timer but I only have one switch for my whites n blues. They run for a little over 12 hours n depending on my work schedule I'm pretty good with an hour of blue in the morning and an hour of blue at night. Since I'll be gone for 12 days will 12 hours of just white light be an issue?

I have no fish, just an elegance coral, orange zoos, green button polyps, and music inverts

It might cause a little color change/loss but should be fine. The color should come back after a couple of weeks with the blues back on.

I am not sure I understand. If there is only one switch how do you make the blues come on without the whites?

That makes sense. I would just shorten the time that the lights stay on.

I believe four blues LEDs on while the whites are on but yes one cord, two switches, sorry.

You should put the blues on a timer and teach Dad good. Talk to if on the phone (if you can) and ask him about your tank and If there's a problem you can walk him through it, but what can go wrong right??

why dont u have them come turn on and off at the some time.. you dont have to have the blues come on an hour before and stay on after... also i would def shorten the lighting period, so you dont have as much evaporation..

So long story short, shorten the light period, don't worry about running the blues separately, and hope I don't have full blown wipe out of coral like I had with my fish?

The last thing I want would be to come back n see everything else dead in my tank
