    Hey All,

I'm seeing this girl and her hobby is saltwater fish. I was thinking it'd be cool to get her a fish or some coral that has something to do with love or is maybe shaped like a heart or something. Is there a fish/coral known as a love fish or a kissing fish?

Basically something that ties into the theme would be cool, anyone aware of anything? I'm pretty ignorant about this stuff so I don't want to buy her something that will eat all her clown fish...

    Thanks!

lol your heart is in the right place, but we see a lot of threads on here about people receiving fish and coral as gifts. It doesn't always end well. A lot of research goes into picking out a fish or coral that is well suited to an individual tank. I would advise taking her to get something she picks out.

IMO the best thing you could get her is a gift card from her fav fish store that way you won't run the chance of killing anything or giving her something she doesn't want. make it a good card too($$) :) Take her there to spend it too and hold her purchases. That would be sweet. Then if you haven't bought anything live, take her out to eat then back to where her tank is and help her do a water change or something. let us know what you decide and how it goes. my son and his g/f bought a dog faced puffer for my first tank and well when I got home I saw it first and my coral banded shrimp gone.......that's why I suggest letting her pick anything out. hope this helps

    Hey

    Hey,

Thanks for the quick replies guys.

Yeah I just hate gift certificates, it's one step away from cash, which is one step away from not putting any thought into a gift.

Yeah, I guess I'll just have to take her for a shopping spree, which is also a little freaky because I don't want to spend more than 100 bucks and the prices I've seen at the stores basically start at 100 then go up and way up.

I know she wants a lighting set, but that's like 399 and I've only been seeing her for a month.

yea dude dont go for lighting set....to much cash to drop on a girl for a month. Just keep in mind that it doesnt have to be expensive...go out of your way to do something that means something to her....

You said it man, I believe anything over 100 would make me look like a stalker or a sap.

She's getting dinner and flowers and all that jazz, but I figured something she's into would be a thoughtful gift instead. She's a beer and wings kind of girl so frilly stuff isn't her bag.

well there you go! find a t shirt with fish on it and bring her for beer and wings. A flower of some sort would be good too You don't have to go all out, just show you care. That's what women want, to know they are cared about and listened to. 2 simple things... when they have that the rest falls into place....
