New rock? Just looks like diatoms to me. Should die off once the silica in the rock is eaten up so long as your water quality stays high.

Yep, it's Marco rock. The tank is two months old. What does dinoflagellates look like?

Looks like a touch of cyano, the very beginnings of green coralline, and diatoms.

It's been my experience that dino does not usually appear in newer tanks, what appears to be dino is actually just a bad case of diatoms and cyano.

The logical explanation is diatoms in a tank that age. Dino is snooty in appearance with formation of bubbles, a lot of bubbles.

That's what scares me. Ive got some brown snotty stuff with bubbles stuck to it. Some of it looks like long strands of hair.

Yes it does have bubbles, but not Christmas light strings of bubbles.

As a preemptive strike, you can do a couple things:

Stop water changes for a couple weeks, Dino likes water changes IME.
Try a complete black out for 3-4 days.
Attempt to keep the pH around 8.4 24/7 with careful monitoring.

How much live stock have you got in this tank already?

Two clowns, a cardinal, a sexy shrimp, some snails/crabs, palys, shrooms, torch and a Kenya tree.

It's really tough for me to keep my pH up. I'll try. I just did a water change on friday, I'll wait a couple weeks.

How will corals do with a 3 day blackout?

All my corals did fine even my sps, the only coral I would be concerned about is the torch.

pH is hard to control and a lot of times trying to maintain it at higher levels can cause more harm than good.

Me I would wait it out another week or two.

Try to figure out what type of pH you have consistently, taking the reading at the same time of day every time. Try every am before the lights come on and every evening before the lights go out for 2-3 days. This should give you an idea of your base line and possible swings.
