When I started this build i said I want to get everything just right and not have any regrets or say I wish I had. Well long story short with the two pumps running they are louder than I like or that my wife likes for that matter. I have an external wall behind my tank so I am placing the pumps outside in a plastic shed type of box. This will eliminate the noise.

Oh well I guess it is only a few pumps I have to move!

I am taking a break from the tank for a bit to relax and think this through. I thought about pulling the plug on this thread but I think others in the future could learn from my errors. If there is anyone who wants me to keep this going let me know if not I will not post again until this tank is complete or scrapped.

Keep going Vegas, like you said we all can learn from problems and mistakes....I also ran into a problem with my 240, the guy that built the stand for it must have had a bad unlevel floor. He put a 2x2 strip on the very bottom,it is 2" on one end and tapers down to 0 on the other going the whole 8'. The tank is on the stand and I have no way of getting it off (way too heavy). He also screwed it to the bottom. The display side may not be too bad but the side against the wall is gonna be a pain.Gather your thoughts and if we can help we will be glad to offer any suggestions.Someone might have a simple solution.

okay the thread will go on. I'll do some thinking today and start work this weekend. Thanks for motivating me to keep moving forward. It was disappointing to get the plumbing all done only to know I need to tear some of it back out!

Looks great. You did an awsome build putting this together. You were lucky to find a lot of equipment from connections through your local reefer friends. It must have cut your cost in half. Bought my 140 loaded from 2-250 halides with a drop in chiller for $2500. It was also partly stocked. But the enjoyment of the putting the project together is half the fun.

Yes I did save a bit from finding used equipment.

On a side note I was able to readjust all the plumbing for the refugium and the sump. And with moving the pumps outside I was able to put the fuge and sump under the stand. I think I'm a tank addict. I'm beat tired but I just keep on plumbing.;D Although I have called it quits for the day. I have a busy week ahead at work so I most likely will not get the pump plumbing done until this weekend.

Once again thank you to all the fellow 3reefers!

I thought I would share photos of the newest setup since everyone on 3reef loves photos.

The back wall is where I will put the pipes for the pumps through.

Here is the container for the pumps outside. I have to remove the plant behind it and then it will be where the blue bucket is.
