Late nighters are a must!!! My timers are set such that i can see the daylight on when i get home, and the lights go off before i go to bed. I also have a flashlight just for the tank;D

I get home from work around 3a.m. and I too keep a flashlight by the tank.I always check things out before hitting the bed. I often see more things with the flashlight(under rocks, crevises) than with lights on in the day.

I did it once, and even dipped my hand in and saw a bristle worm for the first time. Quite creepy/disgusting I gotta say. My fear is coming across a mantis shrimp, just pics online of that thing turns my stomach inside out. MY lord!

I actually installed Red christmas tree lights in my light hood so I could watch the creepy crawlies at night. Most stuff cant see me when I'm watching under that light but its still pretty cool.

I've never tried it, but I think I recall reading somewhere that red lighting at night is fantastic for visibility. Is this true?

night viewing is something every one with a reef tank should deff do. there is almost a holw diff line up of life that comes out at night. it can be very interesting to see what you can see when the lights go out.
