    Little more then 6 month mark with my vertex in-100 and its still runnin strong.

    I'm so glad you started this thread!! I'm upgrading my tank soon and am looking at getting a Vertex skimmer, but didn't know about the quality and stuff. Then I found this. Your thread really helped with my decision.

    So, based on this thread I chose to puchase a Vertex IN-100. It hasn't arrived yet, but I am trying to set up my sump to be ready for it as soon as it arrives.

    I plan on providing a sump foot print of 10"x13". I presume that is sufficent for the 8"x10" that I've seen described. Is that is correct??

    Second question. I have read that Octo skimmers need a water depth of 8-10 inches. Due to height limitations under my tank, I have to set the water depth by using the height of the baffle in the pump. What is the optimal water depth for the Vertex IN-100 so that I can design my baffle accordingly??

    you should have enuf room for foot print and you need like 6-8 inches of water in the sump.
