I went through the same debate. Selected the Vertex and then gave up on them because they were out of stock and back ordered everywhere. Salty Supply said they had some coming in, you might check with them.

I ended up going with Octo and am very pleased with the result. It is producing some nasty skimmate and working quite nicely.

Hmm I might have to jump on the Vertex then because they are in stock at a couple of websites I looked at.

The web sites said they were in stock for me also.... let me purchase it... and then notified me that they were back ordered. They were also very nice about cancelling the order when I decided not to wait on the back order. Turned out my LFS had Octo's selling at web prices (without shipping).

Your call, just letting you know my experience.

Well, Aquacave and marine depot both had the Vertex in stock so placed my order yesterday, I think I will be happy with the Vertex as all I hear are good things and I liked the looks of it.

I'm glad you were able to find one! They must have gotten some in stock for the holiday season. I'm thinking that the fact they are so hard to find is a good thing. Let us know how you like it!!

I got the skimmer tuesday, I must say I was very impressed with the thickness and overall design of the skimmer. I havent taken any pictures yet since I havent put it in the sump yet but as soon as I get it all going I will definately post pics.

Here is a picture of the Vertex, as soon as I finish re-sealing my sump I will get it up and running.
