Has anyone used the Vertex Puratex system? The price is good and the waste to usable ratio is great compared to many other units. If you have a different system that was well priced and has a comparable waste to usable ratio let me know.

    Thanks in advance!

They have a horrible track record.
Their attempt to lower the waste ratio doesn't work well since it uses tap water to flush the membrane. Unless you have softened water and lower than normal tap water TDS, don't waste your money. If you are looking at the one that uses a booster pump and solenoids you might want to look at it first, the one I took apart used 120 v AC electricity and not low voltage DC power and to top it off the thing was assembled with cheap wire nuts not water tight connections. They are cheap for a reason.

If you have softened or soft water and lower than the average TDS of 250 then I would recommend one of the 2:1 or 3:1 systems Spectrapure builds. If the initial cost is not an issue I would always recommend the system I have, the Spectrapure MaxCap UHE which uses stored DI water to flush then pickle the RO membrane so it stays fresh and clean, not cheap initially but it will pay for iteslf within 2-3 years, I know mine did.

If you don't have soft water and lower than average then stick with a normal 4:1 waste ratio system like Spectrapure, Buckeye Field Supply or PurelyH2o. The cost of replacing membranes and DI when you try cutting the waste almost always exceeds the cost of a well flushed membrane and the water and sewer bills from the 4:1.
