I feel for you and know exactly what your feeling. I will admit that am not attached to my aquarium as many are, but when it comes to my dog, thats a whole different story. Again, sorry for your loss. RIP

Schackmel, when it rains it pours, huh? I think =Jwin= put it very elegantly. The joker in batman said, "What doesn't kill ya, makes you stranger." I think he meant to say stronger, but he took poetic license, being the nut bag he was.

Hang in there. Just as nothing worth having is easy to obtain; life must have its moments of hell--for those instants of heaven to weigh that much more.

In time, things will be just fine, you'll be right back on track, and the past will be just that--the past.

Live life for today for right now. I've lost a pet or two, as have many others here--and I know that although the thought of him brings tears of sorrow today, someday soon, those memories will become very sweet and you'll have the luxury of thinking back on him and laughing. But not today, baby. :( Be well.

thanks all. I am still crying...
Last night was horrible. I found out that because he bit somebody and because he bit my dogs that by law he will be placed in Animal Control custody for the next 10 days. I lost control last night and sedated myself heavily! There is no way I can get to him now as I wanted to pull him out of quarintine and take him home.

He will not be euthanized until Aug 9th. I dont understand this law as he had his rabies shots in March at the very clinic that he was taken. I am very pissed and very hurt right now...

What is the reasoning behind holding him? Can't they do a blood test to find out if he has rabies?!

that is what I dont understand....from what I gather is that they want to make sure he will not develop it...I dont know. All they said is that this is the law, that they have no option, and this is the only way they do it. To me it is very very cruel!

I keep thinking about him in the crate, scared and crying  He has never really been anywhere without me for long. Has been boarded 2 x but with my other dog...not by himself

Well, that just stinks. You'd think it would be cheaper for them to figure out how to test the dog than it would be to board it for 2 weeks. I'm using logic though and we all know how many people don't like to use it :(

    Loss......

Yeah, I'm sorry us animal lovers have to go through this stuff. My Dog Boomer was the absolute best friend I ever had. He was a Golden also. He was with me through 13 of my toughest years. I field and obedience trained him myself. He would ride in the bed of my pick-up with his head stuck into the cab through the sliding back window. He went with me everywhere. The kids in town all knew him too.
I had to put him down because his hips were going. It started slow to the point where he couldn't even run in the mornings with me anymore. We thought it was arthritis. I would still take him out once or twice a week running with me and he would do his best to try and jump up into the truck bed. I had to help him and once inside the bed, he would just come to life!! When I got him down off the truck he would wag & wag his big fat tail and as I would stretch, he would put his forehead against my knee, thanking me for taking him out.
It was harder putting him down than most of my best human friends....no joke!
You can't pay enough for friends like Boomer......I really miss him. :-/

I'm so sorry for your loss. I too had to put my dog down in march prematurely due to cancer.
