that makes more sense now.......power outage definately a leading cause of the ammonia going up. You have a lot of live rock, sand etc to help combate all the waste. I think everything will get better with the water changes, etc. Buy some prime when you get to the store for emergencies.

I will be honest, I do think everyone was afraid like i was that the tank was going to be too small for the bioload you have.........but definately good to hear about the size of the tank and the equipment you have.

Good luck and I am sorry you had all your problems!

now remember with prime you must do a waterchange in a day or so. It does really good at binding up the ammonia but you still will need to remove it.

How high was a little high? In a 150g tank i would suggest at the minimum doing a 30g water change if not more depending on the ammonia. At this point the ammonia is all that i am really concerned about.. Unfortunately i have learned from experience that this can start a cascade of events. If one dies, then it causes ammonia to go back up, more bacteria dies off in the tank etc

    lionfish lost his battle

first off thanks to everyone for the great advice....but my lion lost his battle about 15 minutes ago....I treated with the prime but I believe he was just to far gone for any treatments....i do appreciate everyone's advice....never thought i would be so sad to lose a fish but this one hit me pretty hard....if anyone has any further suggestions on the steps i should take now that would be great....how long until i need to do the water change since i treated with the prime and lost the fish today? Also how long should i wait to get my water tested again....??? I'm still not sure exactly what was wrong with the lion....like i said, his eyes got cloudy and stayed that way for a couple of days and then cleared up almost completely, they stayed clear for a few days and then were worse than they were before....I treated with the prime this afternoon at about 4 and at around midnight he passed....it looked like the white on one of his eyes immediately went away and then he started struggling for his life thrashing around and such and then he died so i don't know exactly what happened but i now have the prime in case i ever have another emergency of that nature again....thanks so much all and i am always open to advice....
