    i was wondering if i have a 55 gal reef tank and was wanting to turn from power com to vho lights how many watts of light do i need. i have vho 330 watt system from a old tank from a friend with 6 sockes for 6 bulbs would that be to much watts and what bulbs should i buy for the system how many of each.

    i was led to believe 3-5 watts per gallon is sufficent but also depends on what you are keeping in there ....:)

    330w of vho on a 55g is just about right IMO. I would go 440w vho.

    4 . 48 inch URI VHO's will give you that number use 2 actanic whites and two 03 super atanics
