via aqua mulit skimmer question

Just got a via aqua multi skimmer install in my new reef tank, right now there is only about 10 kg of live rock and 3 coral in it no fish yet.

Question is my skimmer collection cup fills with mostly water and litlle bubbles every 10 mins, is this normal? The skimmer doesnt have much of a instruction other than how to put it together

the collection cup seems to stop fillin once it gets to the top and some bubble come out of the cup sometimes no major hazard yet but the lfs unit the water doesnt fill the collection cup at all only bubbles.

any ideas???

 

You probably need to raise your collection cup so that there isn't so much water getting in. The height of your cup has to be relative to your tanks water level. With adjustment of the venturie going to the pump and height of the collection cup you should be able to "dial in" the skimmer to get a dry foam in the cup. Sometimes new skimmers just need to go through a break-in period too. Be careful that the cup isn't going to overflow onto your floor and give it some time to work itself out. Might take up to a week for break in, especially if you didn't wash the skimmer with vinegar before you set it up. HTH and keep us posted

 

turn the water intake right down seems to do the job atm... seeing some brown bubbles. thanks for the tip.
