I'm finding lots of info on Vodka dosing but have run up against a wall when it comes to stopping! My tank and sump hold 75 gal (I actually measured it ;) ) The books tell me to start with 0.3 daily for 3 days then double it days 4-7. Then each week increase it by 0.5 until NO3 & PO4 begin to drop. When readings get to 0 cut the dose in half. OK, understood. But what happens now if I want to STOP dosing to use some other method??? Do I back down the dose in incriments to some level then quit? My tank is a 80 gal bow with 50+ lbs of LR, gravel bed 4 -2 inches (Back to front) 13 gal sump with a Wet/dry bio filter, a venturi skimmer for a 125 gal tank. Have a flame and coral angels (small) 2 small clowns, 1 blenny, 2 yellow tail damsels, 1 red band shrimp, 1 - 1/2 in  cleaner wrasse, 1 small bubble anemonie and a half dozen hermit crabs and snails. Amo, Nit are 0, PH 8.4, salinity 1.024, and Nitrate 160  Tank is 6 weeks old and I was changing 5 gal of water a week now up to 10. I really like low maintaince set ups and this one is not yet. My 125 gal in the 80's had a lot more fish (no anemonies) and the Nitrates were in the 50+ and I never did anything to lower it ;) . Still have all the records from it 8) Everything is doing just fine in this tank but I don't like Nitrates so high :-[ Was thinking I could lower them with a little vodka while I sip some too but don't want to get caught in a daily routine with it for ever. I like vacations, I'm retired! SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!!

Have you ever wondered why you give up a 8-10 hr a day job with pay for a 16 hr a day one with NO pay?!

u can switch to vodka or to traditional ways as wter changing and run gfo fo po4 reduction and run any type of no3 adsorbing risine
or to build a macro algae based refugium biofilter :)

If you are on vacation, who will be watching your tank, and can't they add the vodka themselves?

Is there any reason biopellets couldn't be placed in a filter bag and placed in a canister filter I'm using just for a UV light? No media in the canister

If you got the money you could buy a medical dose pump, my wife says they would dose once per day at the per ml you need. Of course I do not think they are cheap :)

Which is pretty much the same thing as this - Dosing Pumps for Kalkwasser or Dosing Reef Additives
