You could also dose with sugar if vodka is a problem,

What ever your decide to do, I would start with a very low dose as it is very easy to overdose.

I also suggest you test your phosphates, and try to get to the bottom of the problem, are you performing wwater changes with RODI?

don't dose with beer, we use vodka because it is pure.

I would search google for dosing instructions.

Why? What are your needs? What are you trying to accomplish? What else have you tried? What are your corals?

Carbon dosing is a pretty advanced method and has some very serious draw backs. Folks can have very good success with it, but those folks are usually pretty accomplished reefers. I'm not at all trying to be rude, but you don't really seem the type that should be carbon dosing. Please don't take offense, I mean none. But this is not some willy nilly thing that people do for the heck of it. If you have to ask if it is OK, then perhaps you need to do more research into the subject.

Look into solid carbon dosing.... bio pellets. Same methodology with none of the risk of overdosing and much easier to maintain. It is very sound and has been doing very good. It does have less time in the field though so no real long term data to look at.

^^ Kinda along the lines of what I meant to say, just more blunt. It is a very advanced method and with 5 ppm nitrates and unknown phosphates, it seems impractical and on a whim. I use a surgical grade syringe with the highest amount of precision and am still uneasy about the small errors that can happen.

well if you want all the benefits of carbon dosing and none of the risks get biopellets.
