I believe it’s the extra organic carbon that causes the browning. If you do any reading on the topic you will eventually see the browning mentioned. I have no SPS’s so I’m not sure how they would react but my zoo’s and LPS’s are definitely a little browner.

I will be curious to see if all goes to heck in a couple of months. As of right now I’m very happy with the results.

    I dose Vodka.
I was informed wrong and was dosing 5ml per 50 gallons for like 6 months. The guy who was talking about it came into the store and said his Idaho Grape cap died off about 1/2 way and alot of his tank was shocked or dying. He said he was overdosing for sure. So, when I searched the idea, I found that for my water displacement I only needed .9ml for my set-up. I now dose 1ml everyday and have still had no bad effects. It did cause more skimmate that was more brown then green now.
Also, like previously mentioned.. corals brown from increased Phosphate and Nitrate. It's stress and that's how they show it. By reducing your Phos and Nitrate, your coals colors are brighter...
I'll get the pics off my other user profile....

The green in the Acro in the first two... the red in the mille in the second set..
The blue pop in the 3rd set and the last set, the tri-color is just amazing!

    My apologies... I logged off.
I use Aquarium Pharmesuticals for every single test except magnesium. I don't have a mag test kit and they don't sell it in Aquarium Pharm. I had a post up before asking what was a good and not so confusing brand because I heard people saying it's like a 15 minute process and if you skip one step, you gotta start alllll over.

I have been dosing for like a year now using Smirnoff 80 proof. I dosed the first six months with 5ml of the same bottle until the guy who told me about it said his house smelt like a brewery and his corals died back. I was waiting for his Purple Monti to heal so I can grab a frag of it that he promised like 6 months ago. He hasn't came in since because he was laid off in September.

Thank you for the compliments on the avatar!

I 2nd using "Brightwell's Reef BioFuel" as an alternative to Vodka. I much rather use BioFuel than Vodka. I have used BioFuel to help with some hair algae problems I was having.

I am really curious to know what is in Reef BioFuel. It doesn't smell of alcohol, probably just sugar water. Guess it doesn't matter it works. Corals never looked better and the slight browning I mentioned I believe has to do with the zooxanthellae in them. I see this mainly in my green candy cane, just a slight brown tint, most wouldn't notice it I was just able to see the before and after. Again, 0 N3 and N4.
