    Right, I can stand right next to the tank and not hear them. They're on the back of the tank so that may help, but even with it on the sides of the 75 it wasn't noticeable. I keep mine on reef crest - on pulse it was more noticeable but reef crest is silent.

    The RPM's of the motor has a lot to do with how much noise it makes, have you just tried turning it down a little more, or can you hear from far away even on the lowest setting?

    I know on my MP40's turning them down to about 85% reduces the maximum noise level by about 50%, they really only get loud when they hit their peak RPMs.

    I've heard of some units that people have gotten that needed to be replaced because they made excessive noise. Maybe your unit is making more noise than it should?
