Right now I have a 92 Gallon Corner tank that has been up for a year. I seem to be having the little problems that everyone has starting out with nutrient export. Right now I have 2x 1400 Korlia's and 2x 1100 Korlia's on a JBJ timer that alternates them. What I am wondering is I heard that the nutrient export mode of the Vortech pumps works very well for removing detritus. I think the reason my tank is at 80% of what I would like it to be is because of the buildup of detritus in my tank. Don’t think the korlia’s quite do their job when it comes to making it free and flow into the water column. I have tried to vacuum it out with a hose blow it out with a turkey baster but nothing seems to work well.

Do vortech pumps do a good job of removing these nutrients from the tank with the export mode?

Another question I have is it’s a corner tank so the odd size leaves me with not a lot of room for these pumps and due to the expensive nature of these pumps I would only be able to afford 1x mp40 or 2x mp10. What would be the right model for my tank? Would I see a huge difference with just one mp40? Would it be better to start with an MP10 x2? Of course I will be adding another mp40 but it probably would be some time before I could get the second one.

What are your thoughts on these pumps?

    Do you have them?

What were you running before and how much of a difference did they make from your old flow pumps?

    Thanks ;D

I have 1 mp40 on my 100 gallon and it flat out moves water. I am still learning the modes but the chaos is causes is quite remarkable. They say they can push up to 3200 gallons per hour (cycling my tank 32 times) yet I read an article on here stating that when tested they actually did more. I believe it. I have a Koralia on my 55 gallon and I have no complaints, It pushes water in a straight line at consistent speed without issue. However, it is certainly not Vortech. If you want Chaotic water movement get a mp-40.

honestly, vortech's are leagues ahead of koralias. I have used them all and I can say that nothing comes close to the amazingness of a vortech! I was very skeptical at my first purchase but I was convinced within a few hours of having it on the tank. Now i will never set up a tank without one ;)

For your 92, I would say one mp40 and then later get either an mp10 or else another mp40 and let it run as a slave to the first mp40. The nutrient export mode is super effective.

I have an MP40. The nutrient export mode is awesome for moving detritus. I've seen many friends tanks who have Koralias and they do the job of moving but its not the same as my MP40.

Having the motor outside the tank is awesome as far as aesthetics are concerned (less in the tank). Less heat in the water also.

cool thanks for the info for sure. Seems like I will be getting one and giving it a try. was thinking 2 mp40's that way I dont need them running at max. Plus one of these days im gonna be getting a diffrent tank due to space issues under the 92
