Basically I am thinking of buy a MP10w es next pay check. But I want some feed back from people who have seen them. Specifically I am concerned about noise. I understand they do make some noise but how bad is it?

It will be going in my bed room, I'm not very sensitive too noise but I have had some equipment get trashed because it was too loud. In my bed room I have 3 tanks, including one with a fluval fx5. what you think will I have trouble.

I'm a vendor with Ecotech FWIW and I run them on my reef tanks at the store and a mp10w ES on my home reef.

They do break in but you will be able to hear them if your tank is pretty silent. How loud is your sump? Do you hear the water draining into the sump?

I have an MP40. It makes no noise at all (that I can hear over my normal tank noise). I absolutely love it and recommend it. If the two parts of the powerhead are not lined up perfectly on either side of the glass, it will make noise, but that's an easy fix.

no sumps specifically for that reason. My reef tanks got a HOB skimmer.
but I do hear water trickle from HOB filters on my fresh tank.

although I do have a pretty loud high velocity fan I run, people say it sounds like a plane.

if you sleep with a fan, I think you would be fine. Its hard to tell b/c I know how everybody is different when it comes to sleeping preferences. The noise also depends on your settings too and the night mode will tone it down when the lights are off.

I can usually deal with some humming or a constant sound like a fan, its squeaks and non-constant sounds I have problems with.

would you say its louder then your fridge or window AC unit when it goes into active cooling?

no, I wouldn't think so. If it makes any noises louder than than or anything that rattles, it isn't aligned correctly.

I have two MP 40. The noise depends on what mode you run them in. Their is some noise in the pulse wave making modes but the noise is only noticeable in a very quite room. They are nowhere near as loud as the fans in my light fixture. If you program the sleep function you won't hear them at night. Ecotech"s customer service department is awesome the best that I have ever dealt with.

    ok cool thanks.

I have a question on your site you sell the mp10 es and the upgrade kit for the driver.

what does the upgrade kit do for the pump other then making it wireless?
