W Water

    Does anyone use well water for water changes , i would like to, so should i get it tested .thanks

    I would test it and check it for dissolved solids... I have well water and I still run mine through an ro/di unit.

    I would say yes because there are a lot of deposits and such in well water. TDS, and metals or minerals, just to name a few. Something to check carefully IMO.

    Also how secure is the area the well is in?

    coins get thrown in wells IME and people make a wish ? well they did when I where a lad!

    Ok, I,ll get it tested,should I take it to my local water works , I sure don,t have tests kits for all that stuff.Thanks for info::)

    take it to your LFS - they should be able to help with TDS , copper, Phosphates, Nitrates etc

    if in doubt, leave it out, would be a good mantra in this case

    Alot of wells have an inground or above ground pump.. metal..

    inground pipes.... metal.. Holding tank..?? Most old ones with a rope had metal buckets.. BUT if a test shows it good..??
    Just remember all the metal the water has to go thru..
    I also have well water on hand, but I use RO ...
