    Well, the skimmer is also involved with the oxygenation of the water as well as a few other things, one thing you dont want in a reef tank is crap in the water (being literal here) it will break down quickly causing a cycle in a tank that isnt truly matured yet, trust me a lot of us have been down that road personally, under filtering a tank is a very very bad thing to do.

    There is some really good options for HOB Skimmers in that size range that really arent super pricey, CPR's are good, as well as the Coralife skimmers they have a 225g rated one that would be perfect for that tank and it's around $200 if I remember right.

    yeah but cleaner shrimp doesnt cure ich on fish. it just picks them off the fish. if the fish are getting ich theres something causing it like in my i feel its the temp rising and falling too much

    o really? i c guess im going to have to save for another skimmer... :-/ how do i know if the skimmer is filtering enough of if its not?
