    Okay so my tanks been up for about 2weeks now... It has like bron algae lookin stuff all over the LR and starting to spread across the LS/CC :eek:

    Diatom bloom. This is normal. It will pass. Also no lights will help as you shouldn't need them now for anything.

    Diatoms - every new tank I set up had these from about weeks 3 to about week 8
    they use silicates , when all the silicates are gone, the Diatoms go away

    the bad news - it will look a lot worse before it goes away
    the good news - when they do go away, your tank looks as clean as the day it was set up

    no action required

    Well I leave the lights on for my 2 blue legged hermit and clown fish during the day :eek:

    You shouldn't have any livestock in a tank that's 2 weeks old. I would recommend taking them back and letting the tank cycle.

    do you have actinics? you could run just actinics during the tank cycle period

    but - many people will tell you that lighting does not affect Diatom blooms
    well it does make it harder to see how brown your tank is when the lights are off, but lights on or off - Diatoms will still do their thing and then dissapear

    +1 on packleader , clowns should not be in this early - Hermits are OK IMO

    Well the guy at the LFS said to put it in there.. thats the only reaso I got it.. everyone i heard form said damels but he said clown was best.. And i can keep the lights off, the clown dont have to have em on does he? :O

    No, neither the fish nor the crabs need lights

    KK lights off for now thx guys and sorry there is already a fish in there :( didn't know about all this when i started.. guy at the LFS is all I had for a source, and he has 48 SW tanks at his shop he is personally owned.

    Have you already bought new fish? Or are these the clowns you had in the smaller tank.. along with the blue legged crabs.. :confused:
