I have been wanting to do something different with my 29g biocube for a couple weeks now. I just can't decide on what i want. my biocube has stock pc lighting with a refugium in the middle back chamber with chaeto. I have 2 clowns, 2 fire fish, 2 chromis, a coral banded shrimp, and acleaner shrimp as live stock. Any ideas on what i can house coral wise?

If you wanna do something really sick why not go rimless biocube? Then you can put any light you want and any coral you want.

    Hey,

As Cosmo said, check out my thread. Rimless would be cool too, I wish I has some experience with that.

If you have any questions let me know.

Rimless with no top would not end well for the Firefish and probably clowns :(

Also, how are the CBS and cleaner shrimp getting along? All I have read is that they will kill other shrimp in a smaller tank. Just curious, as I actually just added a CBS to my 55 that has a cleaner.

the CBS and cleaner get along fine. the CBS will chase anyone away when they get to close. he is the boss in the tank i must add.

Wow that rimless looks so nice! I want to make my bio cube HQI topless now. How did you get the top off?

Good to know. So far I haven't seen the CBS and cleaner interact; they stay at opposite ends of the tank during the day. I know they must cross paths at night though when they are both active.

As far as corals, you are certainly limited by the stock lighting. I have the stock PC lighting on my JBJ 28, but it runs at 105W vs. 72W. In my tank I have Duncans (which are doing awesome!), Acans (slowly growing), Candy Cane (growing like crazy!), Meteor Shower Cyphastrea (really starting to take off, I have it shaded a bit), Green Slimer Acro (Slowly growing), Tyree Undata & Season's Greetings Monti (both just added). I will be installing a Rapid retrofit kit next month though, and will add more SPS from there.

The obvious easier adds would be softies, Zoas/Palys, Leathers, Mushrooms, etc. A Fungia may also do well, as they like lower light anyways. Just throwing some ideas your way!
