    eels can and will climb out of a tank without a lid, ask them I'm sure they'll tell you they've lost some due to it

    Plus there is nothing like being woken up by a screaming wife cause there is a wiggling eel in the floor at 5am


    they are normally reef and most fish safe, however they will usually target small inverts, crabs and shrimp mostly

    Garden eels need very deep sand and live in open sandy areas, not on the reef. Putting them into a reef tank with a shallow sandbed would be cruel IMO and I don't suspect that they would live very long under those conditions.

    whoops forgot to mention they weren't fish safe - but still they are cool and very colourful!

    lol, i knew the reef police would critisize me on that suggestion. Figured id throw it out there since most of the other suggestions seemed just as crazy if not more...lionfish? Frogfish? They have the same 3 in their reef for as long as i can remember in about 4-5 inches of sand....i didnt realize OP had a shallow sand bed.
