I think I paid about 50 bucks for it. I originally wanted a kole but they didnt have any so they showed me a small tomini tang they had, and then showed me an adult tomini they had in there display tank, it was cool looking, there bodies get darker and the orange tips of thier fins brighten up.

That is not possible to know as every fish has a different personality and the two might be friends and not have any problems at all or they could be enemies and hate each other you just can't know until you have both in your tank. I was reading some posts on a different forum about trigger fish being reef safe and in that some people had trigger fish who never messed with any invert at all and some had one that tried to eat many of their invers, and they were all the same species. (niger trigger)

I really like the orange on the fins that is why I was considering one.

    all I would ask xxredxpandaxx

is if you do go for a 2nd Tang in that 4ft tank - you keep an honest and open account of it along with the hippo

and that if one or the other dies before an exchange is made or an upgrade is given
that you do share that fact with others on the site

if the experience is positive for you and the fish - I will be happy

    what does concern me is

if your saying that 2 tangs in a 4ft is OK in your opinion and then you try it and it fails, but you keep that to yourself , then others reading this may also replicate what you did
and other Tangs are subjected to less than ideal conditions

Ive made many mistakes and many bad desicions, and posted about them more than once

if everybody did the same, then we would have a much better picture of what really goes on in the hobby

at present, we have people making bad choices and then hoping everyone else forgets about it later

I dont know how many Hippo tangs have died in small tanks in the last couple of years
I do know that almost all of them died in secret simply because the person who had them
knew they had made a poor desicion and did not want that fact to haunt them in the future.

thats a good idea, I have made my fair share of mistakes and was to imbarrassed to tell anyone, but if I did let people know about my mistakes then it may have helped other people from making the same mistake

I will tell people of my experience I wont hide it from the world, and if one starts to do get sick or to stressed I will move that fish to another tank (72 gallon bowfront) or sell it so that it doesn't die. Also I am not saying it is ok for sure but if both of them are happy then it is ok. I will admit I have already had one juvenile hippo tang die from ich a couple months ago, it died one day after I noticed that it had white spots all over it, but it was still eating and before I could do anything about it he died =/ but I do watch my fish closely now to make sure they are eating and don't show signs of stress.

cool - good luck anyway, and I mean that, as they are great fish

Red Gambit has a 120 - 6ft long I believe with 3 tangs in at present
the extra swimming room makes a significant difference

the thing with fish that need a lot of swimming room is that its impossible to have a tank that to big IMHO
so if you can get a 180 or 200 plus - then the list of Tangs you can keep long term, increases dramatically IME.

Thank you steve, and I would like to have a larger tank just don't have the money right now but the biggest tank I could fit in my room right now is a 6ft tank unless I got rid of my tv then I could get a nice 10ft tank haha. (just don't know how I would get it in here)

its your tank and your gonna end up doing whatever you want in it all we can do is suggest. but tattooedsoul there is a major difference between a 90 gallon and a 75 gallon, first of all there is 15 more gallons which doesnt seem much but it depends on the ninety. you will want at least a 5-6 foot tank for any tang. two tangs in a 75 is extremely cramped and they will not last long at all. and if you do decide to do it like stated please update us with your tank if it goes well or not. also a 75 it doesnt matter the rockscape the tank is too small....period.
