The gallonage is a little bit more but the swimming room is near the same the fish would have a extra 4'' to swim up which is very little and you could have a 75 gallon tank with a total volume of 20,000 gallons if you wanted, the gallonage isn't the problem we were both saying that it has the same footprint and basically the same swimming room. :)

ok im going to make this short and sweet, you cannot have that fish in a 75 gallon tank, the footprint all depends on the type of tank you buy. technically a ull grown blue tang should be in a 120 gallon tank but i was trying to stretch it to make it more reasonable because a 75 gallon is unthinkable.

Well im not going to start anymore tang fights here but I am going to see how this works out. and if it goes bad than I will tell you all and if I see anyone trying to do the same thing I will voice what happened to me whether it is good or bad im not afraid to say that I did something wrong to people.

I have two tangs in my 120. A purple and a powder blue, They get along great and swim together. here is something i noticed in my experience.
I used to have 2 clowns, 3 damsels, a goby and 2 tangs, the tangs got along well but would sway their tails at each other once in a while and show a little aggression, I since got my clowns to pair up and removed the damsels and goby. As soon as i removed the damsels and goby so much tension left the tank. the tangs get along great now.
I only have 4 fish in my 120 two of them being small clowns. So i think it also depends on the other fish you have in there. with no other aggressive fish the tangs became a lot more comfortable, also i did my rock scape to have lots of towers and bridges and holes for them to swim in and out of.

If you just have a big wall in the back they are both swimming in each others areas. By creating different areas for them to swim they are much more at peace.

yes 4 tangs in a 120 is a good example of healthy fish, redgambit knows what hes doing and im sure the tangs are very healthy, however it depends on the tang, if the 4 tangs include something like a naso or unicorn then that wont work

Hah, Nasos besides their quite large adult size, Are actually more peaceful then most and are a great mix with other species. Mine will have to go down the road If I don't upgrade. Thankfully his growth spurt slowed down LOL.

Naso's are a bit more of an Open water tang. They do love their rock work as well. But Mine spends most of his time cruising the open water.

IMO theres nothing wrong with adding another tang to the tank as long as the stock is low. on the other fish and the OP has the the knowledge to know when to trade in the fish or upgrade.

but the naso of course is not full grown, a full grown naso would be rather large for a 120 with 3 other tangs.
