    ok so heres my problem
im about a month in my cycle (first saltwater tank) i put 30 lbs of dry sand (sugar ) and 20lbs of live sand( crushed coral ) in my 40 breeder, with out knowing what sugar grain sand meant, i HATE the sugar sand and was wondering what i can do?
should i just get another 20lb of live crushed coral and put it on top of the sand bed or take out some sand (like all of it )
will this totally mess up my cycle

    PLEASE HELP

Either way would be fine, just do it while you are still in the cycle phase. I think i would just get as much out as possible and replace it with what you want.

pf you are not interested in getting sand sifting species then I guess remove as much as you can, however the large substrate traps detrius so becareful nitrates and ammonia dont build.Try adjusting the heads to where it doest look like its moving the sand bed then shut them down to let it settle then turn em back on and see I had to do this about 5 times in my 150 till I got it right.
