So I finally figured out how to what the little doo-hikey was downstairs in the stuff I got with a tank, it was a Auto Top Off. I'm currently ordering the Auto shut off valve and check valve. If my plan goes right I'll hookup my RO/DI that's in my basement, running the clean water line up through the floor (probably 12 feet or so straight up from the RO/DI @ 80 PSI in the system)

However there's still one thing. Water changes. I do not want to have to carry these buckets up stairs 4+ times for 20 gallon+/- water changes. I was thinking I keep a container in my closet with a lid on it that is heated to 80 degrees and mixed 24/7. When I need to perform a WC I'll simply run the hose from the container into the aquarium and let the pump do the rest. Here's what I'm worried about, I keep my guns (several thousand dollars worth) in my closet (no safe yet ::) ) and was worried about salt creep accumulating on them? Also on my clothes that would be right above the container? I'm assuming a properly sealed lid there wouldn't be a problem correct?

Help! I can take pictures if necessary.

i have a solution if your concerned about your guns, ill take them j/k i mean as long as the guns arnt sitting on top of it i see no big deal, as long as you clean and store them properly
there shouldnt be a problem i see as long as its properly sealed, just remember that if is not sealed any organic waste that gets in it could start a cycle in the container (ik from exp that this happens)

or keep the container there, and when you need to do water change fill it up on command and mix it for 24hrs with a powerhead or 2 and a heater.

I would store you guns in another closet there will be increased humidity in there unless you have a perfect seal.

In all seriousness move the guns or just fill the container up, im assuming when you said you are running tubing you are running it to that room for your ato

you do not want to keep the guns in a high humidity environment. Move the guns to another closet. Other wise you will be cleaning the rust spots off and oiling your guns every month. and if you have wood stocks on your weapons you will have to worry about the wood getting damaged.

    Here's how I do it.

I have a RO/DI, with a 3g tank for the RO all under my kitchen sink; the RO goes to a separate smaller facet on the side edge, the is t'd off, runs down thru the floor to the ceiling of my basement and over to the water/ice maker on my fridge.

Then the RO/DI line after the resin runs thru the floor, and over to my sump are in the basement, hooked stright to a float valve in my sump.

    Advantages- no bucket hauling, etc.
One disadvantage- I can't really dose my Top off water

To do WC's, I have a 32G plastic trash can on wheels, that I put near my sump; take the line off my ATO- (it has a small valve right by the sump for disconnects), and put the line in the can with the valve open. (Yes, I have to be careful not to overflow here- no float vavle), mix it, and drop PH, now using a MAG 3 and refill my sump after I siphon the sump, and occasionally the DT.

Works great, not too much trouble

So We drink RO at the sink, cooking, coffee, etc,, and it's thru the icemaker and water dispenser on the frig!, and it has DI after that for my DT.
