Why not get some critters that help with SB cleanup? Nassarius snails, sand sifting sea star? Also as the SB ages it becomes heavier ( for lack of a better word) and will settle.
IMO there are more benefits to having a SB then not. Your cyno issues are not being caused by it. Cyno is a bacteria that has several causes. The most common being poor flow, excess nutrients, poor lighting=to much or to little.
If all else fails you can always go with an antibiotic or Chemiclean.

Vinnie, you're way off base here... everyone knows Bears don't like reef fish. Too tough to catch and the masks and snorkels don't fit them well.

Very true, you have to set the entire tank up around it being a BB.

Goodness!!! I say it's easy... but I guess that's because it's not "hard" to spend a bunch of money on flow and filtration, hehe... (I wouldn't have thought you would need THAT much flow though)

Removed all the sand this weekend and forgot about this thread.

I have a Bubble magus Nac 7 skimmer. I'm enjoying the look of BB.

This is what im planning to do with the egg crate:

Use PVC tubing in a rectangle and zip tie the egg crate to the pvc.
