Has anyone set one up in a nano that could recommend a brand?

what size nano tank do you have ?

is it one of the brand name nano set ups, with rear chambers for filter media?
as Rowaphos or similar in a mesh pouch, placed in one of those, could be effective enough for your needs, providing you change it once per month or when PO4 levels indicate its becoming exhausted

Its a 28 nano cube with the basket in the back. I have a fuge in the top, 2nd chamber is purigen and charcoal bag, third chamber is LR rubble. I have checked my phos level and get 0 each time, but I still have like 3 or 4 types of algae, barely staying in check.

It only takes one level tablespoonfull of GFO or about 10 grams per 10 gallons of system water full dose so a reactor would be overkill for 2.5 spoons of media.
Place it in a small bag in one of the media chambers, preferrably packed between other things like the carbon and whatever so it does not tumble and grind itself up.

10 grams per 10 gallons is full dose so start out with 1/2 that or 5 grams (1/2 tablespoon) per 10 gallons for the first month or two so you don't shock the system.

There are problems with mixing the media though. For one, GFO and carbon have very different useful lives so you are either wasting GFO or extending the carbon past its prime.
Another is the work best at slightly different flows.

I like the idea of the small reactors though, now if you could provide seperate chambers with one pump?

I agree with you about the optimal usage times and flow rates on carbon and GFO, but I think the trade-off in cases like this can be reasonable depending on how it is set up (and the needs of the individual). Most people are usually working with some sort of limiting agent, so despite the trade-off, I thought it might be worth considering for aness.

Really appreciate the feedback and ideas. Thanks! One we get these two units out, there is more on the R&D table to go through.

At that price point they should sell like crazy! Might have to try one myself on my 16G nano.
