It is a dry heat, yeah right !
The benefits of a fuge IMO

    Increased water volumn
Provides any area for nutrifying bacteria
Macro algae assist in stabilizing the pH and uptake of phosphates thus assisting in prevention of nuisance algaes.
Provides a protected area where small inverts like copepods can thrive and reproduce. Can also be a handy place to put misbehaving fish and inverts.
Provides a place for such items as heaters, skimmmers..... Out of sight from the main display

    +1 to Corailline.

I added a fuge to my tank a couple months ago, and it makes a HUGE difference in the algae levels in the DT. It's probably the best decision I've made regarding my tank.

Nope, you can just match the salinity of the water in the fuge and hook it up. No need to cycle it.

Just don't put in any rock that needs to cycle, otherwise you'll start a mini cycle in your tank. Base rock or cured rock only.

Bigger the better. A bigger fuge gives you more water volume, which is better for your inhabitants. Also, you get more room for algaes or mangroves, which again, is better for your DT.

Just don't forget to leave enough room for overflow from the DT, if this is your (technically defined) sump. Otherwise, you'll have a flood if the return pump ever turns off.
