I have a 180 g tank (24 in height) and I have a new 6 ft Current Nova Extreme 468W T5 lighting system I just added on it. (I replaced a 4 ft H system with 2 150W MH bulbs.....unforutnetly the heat output was such that it made our dining room too hot and my wife made me put it on a tank I have in the basement) However, I wanting to get a nice clam in my reef tank upstairs and I am wanting to know if this new T5 fixture will be enough to house a clam or not. (I have lots of live rock so I would be able to move it up or down in the tank as deemed needed. Really I would love to have a nice blue maxima clam but don't know if my lighting T5 lighting will support it or not. If I can't get that, would there be another clam you recommend?

    Thanks in advance.

For a tank that size, I would look for a big derasa or squamosa. They don't need as much light as@others and look amazing in larger tanks.

Maximas are rock boring clams so you need to put it on the rocks as you plan. Put it on the upper third of the rocks and it should do grand. Just do not get pure actinic bulbs they don't have enough PAR to do any good.

I keep a crocea at the top under my T5's. I use the SunDial fixture.

It has 6 actnic bulbs and 6 10K at 39W each. Would that be enough?
