We already have a pair of percs. The tank is all LPS and a pair of RBTAs right now as well. We had thought about a mandarin, but after setting up a culture tank for both the phytoplankton and the pods... I lost interest in keeping those cultures going. I'm glad I went through all of that before getting the fish and possibly not being able to provide it the food it needs.

So, I was thinking of maybe the Orange Spotted Goby, though it's recommended to feed twice per day. This might not be an issue, but is it *critical* to feed twice a day? I get pretty busy some times and it'd be nice to do once a day or every other day.

I was also thinking of a 6-line wrasse. Could both the Goby and the Wrasse be with the percs? 4 fish is all we'd want in the tank. I also have a Fire Shrimp that is full grown. Anyway... thoughts or opinions? Perhaps other fish ideas?

I think if you add the goby before the wrasse there should be no problems there. The other issue you need to consider it if the clowns pair up and decide to spawn they will declare the whole tank theirs and kill or harass the other two fish to death.

Yeah, I had heard clowns can be a bit of a nightmare when/if they pair/spawn. I didn't know they'd take the entire tank, but I suppose it's a decently small tank. In about 2 years, I'm planning on a 300+ gallon tank but I'd really like to not have to wait for that long to get some more fish.

I know what you mean on the time frame. Just something to consider. The six-line will become a monster to any new additions after acclimation most likely also. When I had one I could not add new fish that were smaller then it to the tank because it would keep them in hiding all of the time.

I was for sure thinking of the goby first. I have read about the wrasse not liking new fish. I just want to make sure they'll be ok

The clowns worry me about the safety of the new adds. If you have the goby in the tank for a month or more before adding the six line I think they should be fine. I would go for it if you think the clowns will be fine.

Sort of feel like am being a wet towel on your plans with all of the negative information.

eh, it's important to understand the risks. The clowns don't have an established territory yet really. They tend to stay at the top of the tank and sleep at the top of the middle of the tank in the back at night. Being that a goby tends to stay lower in the tank, I'd assume that would help minimize the risk. Plus, the clowns aren't with each other all day long either. The male does the submissive behavior but they aren't "tied" to each other.

Soo hypothetical. My LFS has a shrimp orange spotted goby pair. Would that be a problem for any of my inhabitants? (Fire shrimp or clowns) and IFi got a mandarin later would they be compatible? LFS guarantees they eat prepared food (or he trades them back)
