I want to get a couple more fish for my tank and just wanted to get opinions on whether the ones I want to get will be compatible with my current tank mates.

I currently have a Blue Tang, YWG, B&W Occelaris Clown, Green Spotted Mandarin, Pajama Cardinal, and a Royal Gramma.

I want to get a either a Bicolor Blenny or a Midas Blenny and a Green Clown Goby.

    Thoughts?

you should not have a tang in that tank, minimum for a hippo is about 85 gallons at MINIMUM. so with that in there i would say you cant get anything else until you get rid of it which you should do asap.

Wow, sorry. I read on some other forums that if you got them around 2" or smaller that you could keep them for quite awhile. Once he outgrew it I was going to trade him in to the LFS so he could find a bigger home.

its not the size of the tang its the amount of swimming, if youve seen one of these in the wild you know what im talking about they are constantly swimming all over the place!, being confined to a tank thats not even 4 feet long is comparable to you living in a closet. if you were told it was ok to put a smaller tang in your tank its safest just to not do that anyway because you never know what situation you will be in when that time comes around. your lfs may be closed and you may not have the financial means to upgrade.

I am staying out of the tang debate, but I just recently got rid of a black combtooth blenny. It is closely related to the two you are looking at and he was eating zoas and acans like it was his job. Every place that sells them says they are reef safe, but there are threads on 3reef and elsewhere that dispute that claim. Each individual fish is different, but I thought I would let you know they aren’t always as reef safe as you might hear so keep an eye on it if you get one.

I just got a 3"hippo and a 3" blonde naso for my 46bf and they're both loving it. As long as you're happy with them I don't think it matter what the "guardians of all tangs" say. If they were all such do gooders they would leave the fish in the oceans not in their tanks. When the time comes all you have to do is take them to any LFS and they will gladly trade for a smaller one since bigger fish sell for more money.

quinstar - its up to you, your already well stocked for a 46 and additional fish may just be the trigger for a ich attack on the tang and possible loss of said fish ( or you are faced with QT tank and cures etc)
if it healthy now, leave it and do not stress it by adding more fish IMO

and when you do exhange it - sooner better than later as many of these fish die whilst awaiting a trade off time or upgrade

most end up with an upgrade into large water facilities Via the toilet IMO
