I would like to build a refugium for my 65 FOWLR to keep nitrates down. Was curious what size pump I would need and what size hose to bring the water in? Never done this before thanks

Are you already running a sump?

I have 1" pvc draining into my refugium and about 300 GPH flowing back up into the display tank from the pump. (on a 55g)

Something along those lines would probably be fine for you.

If you can, go bigger. Get the biggest tank you can fit under your stand. You will not regret it.

A refugium should have a flow of no more than 5 times its volume per hour. The slower the better. If you already have a sump tee off some of the flow to the refugium then have the water from the refugium return to the return section of the sump. No need to change return pumps in this instance.

I see you have no sump now. You will need to get an overflow box to move water out of the tank and into the sump. A return pump that runs at 50gph at 4 foot head is what you will want to get if you use a 10 gallon tank. Just get a return pump that runs at its maximum at 4 foot head 5 times the actual volume of water in the refugium.
