Washing Dry argonite

    So since im new.... should i wash my dry argonite or just add it?:confused: If i choose not to, does it matter?

    Definitely rinse well........ What a nightmare without rinsing.

    I just added mine. 24 hours it was cleared up. Just use filter sock or some mechanical filter and change after 24 hours. Rinsing is alot of work. But if you like that sort of thing, rinse away.

    I would rinse it before adding it to your water.

    That aragonite "dust" is beneficial to your tank so I would just put it in and deal with the cloudiness.

    Interesting, what's in it? The last time I used it I didn't have a way to rinse. It was a nightmare for me.

    that is interesting.! i supposed the fine dust would be crushed coral... or calcium carbonate. i never thought of it that way.

    It's aragonite powder which, when it dissolves provides both calcium and carbonate buffer. It's the same stuff that's labelled and sold as "Aragamight" by CaribSea :)

    On this go around with the 110 build, I used the Argomax. I must say, I was cycled as fast as the "Live Sand" and I save a boat load on it.

    I like the Argomax and wont spend the $$ on "Live Sand" again.

    I also went cheap on the rock and bought a boat load of base rock and very little lr.
